The Double Dragon waterfall and suspension bridge is a must visit. It’s located in Nantou County, Taiwan; and from looking at Google Maps you can see it’s right in the middle of Taiwan. This place is off the tourist map, and does take some nifty google map skills to locate the narrow road which is best approached via scooter. We were surprised to be the only people at the waterfall on a Saturday- that’s how quiet it is!
The suspension bridge spans 337meters/1105feet- noted as the longest suspension bridge in Taiwan, and one of the longest in the world. The bridge is constructed with what seems minimal materials, and you really do feel exposed standing on the bridge, as it sways in the wind. As you approach the other side of the gorge you hear the thundering noise of the waterfall. A short walk up river and you approach the base of the waterfall, the water is cool but great to soak in on a hot day.
